World Intellectual Property Day: Innovating for a Better Future


World Intellectual Property Day is celebrated every april 26 to learn about the role that intellectual property (IP) rights play in encouraging innovation and creativity.

This year, the World Intellectual Property Day 2022’s theme focuses on IP and Youth innovating for a Better Future

 

Historical Background 

 

The World Intellectual Property Office (WIPO), a specialized self-funded agency of the United Nations, responsible for developing a balanced and approachable international intellectual property (IP) system designated 26 april as the world intellectual property day in 2000.

The date marks the anniversary the WIPO Convention came into existence in 1970. The Convention aims to minimize the gap between IP as a business/ legal concept and its relevance in people’s lives.
